Have you ever created something on your own? You're completely obsessed with it and you treat it like it is one of your expensive possessions? Yes ! Me too. I am Shrigouri Jumnalkar working as an RPA/AI Developer in Tangentia India Private Limited and I am going to pin down my experience of Automating my first end to end process for one of Tangentia's Clients.

To begin with all the how's and what's, let me give you some information on what Robotic Process Automation is about. It ain't magic ! It is a very calculated and planned approach on making a process work from its input to its output stage. We become aware and take note of the smallest steps that a human would take while working on any process , it could be as small as copying and pasting a text from one place to another or as big as processing a million lines of data leading to a full fledge documentation for Bank Transfer, Production Orders or Invoice Generations.

Coming back to my relation with the first project here at Tangentia. I can call it a “Love Hate Relationship”. It was quite challenging. Everything in it was dynamic, something that worked today and gave me a good night sleep just decided to completely fail the next day and I am back to the owl mode. Yes, there are seniors to help me out and managers to handle the situation , but how could I stay calm until it's fixed? I JUST COULD NOT STOP ! I was so obsessed and kept breaking my head on every smallest change. The rush is unreal. It sounds so exaggerated right now but my RPA buddies are going to back me up on this and it's no secret that we sometimes know exactly where it's going to fail. We are ready with a “Jugaad '' as we Indians call it. The same “Jugaad” either works wonders or creates a bigger blunder.

One fine morning when it actually works, you are really proud but you're biting your nails staring at the screen with the other hand placed on the mouse. Ready to pause the bot run even if you sense a small discomfort on the screen. You keep looking at it forever even though the main purpose of its creation is to work on its own. You are so offended when someone calls it an easy task and you're on cloud nine when someone appreciates it. I am glad I am a part of a team where I actually get appreciated. Sometimes you are so surprised with how an error gets handled smoothly as if it were some magic, forgetting the fact that you were the one who put up the code in the first place. You watch the whole run over and over again (I watched it for 6 hours straight.LOL).

Yes , I did get assigned to another project eventually, but my first project will always be a special one to me. Although I sometimes just wanted to type “ctrl+A” and “delete” making it vanish from my eye, I would never miss a chance of “Staring at the Bot” every day and night.

Are you someone who enjoys building the bots and staring at them, then Tangentia is a place for you. We have a huge opening for RPA developers. Check out the careers page and apply.

The digital world is seeing the rapid growth in RPA technology as well as RPA career opportunities. RPA is one of the top business opportunities that organizations will come across and automation experts are now joining the RPA movement to help them manage growth, risks, and costs.

RPA enables businesses from all verticals to automate repetitive tasks which helps freeing IT staff up to work on more value-added projects that drive real business value. RPA technology automates repetitive tasks by analyzing user actions using pre-built rulesets, which means users can quickly automate quite complex processes on a low-code platform.

There are not many people who have experience in RPA so it's easy for companies to build teams around RPA with fresh faces that are capable of RPA. RPA is an evolving technology with many exciting new technologies entering the market all the time. RPA developers need to constantly keep up-to-date with technology trends if they are to remain relevant in this competitive market.

Job Roles

There are different roles involved in making a project ready to deliver to the client, so here are four important roles:

RPA Developer

RPA Developer is responsible for developing code for RPA projects using RPA tools such as Automation Anywhere, UiPath, BluePrism, etc. RPA Developer is a member of the core automation team and the developer is required to communicate across teams to ensure that the flow of the code is in sync if multiple developers are working on the same project. RPA developers are expected to have problem-solving and programming skills to solve day-to-day problems. A developer should have knowledge of any programming language to make learning RPA easy, also he/she should have the ability to integrate different technologies.

RPA/AI Lead

AI lead is involved in many things such as building competency tools, exploring different tools for development or tools which can be integrated with RPA tools such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, etc. AI lead is also responsible for building solutions for projects and training people. AI lead is a center of the automation team with tasks involving discovering projects with clients, setting best practices during getting projects ready, assigning tasks to developers and guiding them during the development phase, reviewing code once it is completed. AI leads might be also involved in pre-sale activities which include handling RFPs, providing POC to clients, and showing clients working demos.

Business Analyst

A business analyst works with customers, managers, and technical personnel to develop system requirements that ensure that work processes are effective. Business analysts understand the needs of clients as well as the capabilities of the organization. The business analyst analyzes organizational goals, needs, values, capabilities, and constraints to help design current workflow models as well as future ones. A business analyst is also responsible for the documentation of projects which may include creating flow diagrams as well to understand the process.

Technical Support

The technical support person is responsible for day-to-day monitoring and scheduling RPA bots in production. This role requires a good understanding of bots and its working. The support person should technically do the analysis and evaluate the business incident. They are also responsible to provide effective solutions by interacting with the business/client team. The support person is expected to create and maintain documentation of daily health checks and troubleshooting of bots. The role also includes testing of bots in the QAT environment, whenever any changes to any applications are done.

Many businesses are looking for opportunities to automate their manual processes, and RPA is a perfect choice for them. As the trend of the RPA is increasing, companies are also looking to hire new faces for different RPA roles. If you are interested in making a career in RPA then Tangentia is a perfect place to learn and grow.

Due to huge demand in today's world, many companies are looking for Robotic Process Automation (RPA) developers who have experience in one or more specific RPA set of tools as well as strong development skills and can work within RPA frameworks. RPA developers also need strong configuration management and logical thinking skills to ensure their automation runs smoothly across different environments.

In order to enter the RPA industry, it is important to learn different RPA tools. Since RPA is a low-code platform, these tools are fairly easy to learn.

Following are the important RPA tools right now

Automation Anywhere

Automation Anywhere is one of the most popular RPA vendors that offers a powerful and easy-to-use platform to perform any complex tasks. It is different from other programming software because it is focused more on RPA or Robotic Process Automation which will allow the user to operate a computer with the interface of GUI instead of programming languages. By using Automation Anywhere, a user can record a sequence of steps that they go through on a website which is then converted into an automation script ready to be used. Automation Anywhere also offers a trial/free version (Automation Anywhere Community Edition) of their tool so that developers can learn and get hands-on experience with it.

UiPath

Another RPA software that has been making an impact on the RPA market recently is UiPath. The key difference between Automation Anywhere and UiPath RPA providers is that Automation Anywhere offers RPA software as a cloud service, whereas UiPath is RPA software as a desktop application. Like Automation Anywhere, UiPath is also a low code platform and users can record steps as per process to automate. It also comes with a free version (UiPath Community Edition) for small businesses and individuals and with the trial version, it is easy to get hands-on experience with UiPath for a developer or a person who is looking to get into RPA development using UiPath.

Blue Prism

Unlike Automation Anywhere and UiPath, having knowledge of C# makes it easier for developers to learn Blue Prism. Blue Prism also lets users interact with variables and scenarios dynamically to test and resolve issues. UiPath and Automation Anywhere provide a visual GUI interface and quick implementation features while on other hand BluePrism requires programming skills. Blue Prism also provides the Blue Prism learning edition version which is available to everyone with a Blue Prism Digital Exchange Account.

As the trend of an RPA is increasing day by day, it is the right time to make this career move. If you are a fresher than you can start working on improving your SQL and C# knowledge. Also, get hands-on experience with any of the RPA tools as most of the tools offer a free trial version. If you are looking to apply for a RPA related job, visit the Tangentia careers page.

My adventure with Tangentia began with campus placements for the 2021 batch. I was ecstatic to be hired at Tangentia as an RPA Developer — a technology that I was unfamiliar with it at the time. Working with a firm that branded itself “Agile Digital Transformation Company” piqued my interest.

Internship at Tangentia

Prior to joining Tangentia, I had the opportunity to work as a project intern with the RPA team, where I gained first-hand knowledge of RPA technology. My previous experience in RPA has given me confidence to work on the project Tangentia has assigned me.

As the project progressed, I was gaining more insights and knowledge about RPA technology. I’m impressed and fascinated with the benefits of RPA and how amazingly it automates the repetitive operations performed by humans. The identical operations get completed with extreme precision and in a fraction of the time by an RPA Bot.

During my internship, I gained a grasp of the project’s many phases. I learned about both the managerial and developmental elements of the project. Despite the fact that I was an intern, I was given early customer contact where I interacted with clients to obtain a better grasp of their needs.

Onboarding

I joined Tangentia in August 2021. Soon after, I began my training with Automation Anywhere, Tangentia’s RPA partner. During the session, I learned about many strategies for creating RPA Bots, automating procedures, and managing workflows in an enterprise. I got the opportunity to explore UiPath and Automation Anywhere RPA platforms.

My mentors and fellow developers helped and guided me through the process, as I got myself certified with the “Automation Anywhere Masters RPA Professional”.
The working environment at Tangentia is very tranquil and employees are easily approachable. Interacting with the people here has given me a sense of commitment, passion, and dedication towards what they do.

We succeed as a team at Tangentia. We share our knowledge, assist one another, innovate, and improve. The Tangentia Automation team assists organisations in automating their repetitive manual tasks, saving time, money, and other vital resources that will benefit the firm in the long run.

How do I see the future of RPA technology?

RPA has expanded at an exponential rate in recent years and is currently an increasing field in the industry. RPA is becoming more popular, and people are
devising new methods to use it because it promises to automate repetitive, manual processes with software robots.

How do I see the future of RPA professionals?

The future of Robotic Process Automation looks more promising than ever before. Today, every industry wants to be digitally transformed and readily deploy RPA. RPA service adoption has been showing tremendous growth so the demand of RPA developers and experts. There is no doubt in denying the fact that a major share of employment opportunities in the world will be created in the field of RPA.

Tangentia is creating hundreds of jobs in the RPA space. If you want to start your career in RPA or looking for new opportunities then Tangentia is a great place to be. Send your resume at careers@tangentia.com or apply directly to the suitable opening.
